• BSC,MSC in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or Biological Sciences or Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant experience of partnering with Regulatory and Medical on the requirements for product delivery in the area of specialisation
• Experience in product development with a strong understanding of what is required to deliver a product to the market place
• Good understanding of manufacturing sites and the requirements o of maintain a product on the market through lifecycle management.
• Experience of working with a range of strategic partners/ alliances globally to deliver products
• Experience of working in highly complex matrix organisation; leading teams of Leaders who manage Leaders
• Proven ability to solve complex technical and operational problems in a timely manner.

Details

Job Purpose

Research and Development are responsible for the delivery and execution of the innovation pipeline. The allergy business is a newly launched business for GSK consumer and there is a critical focus on the development and delivery of the pipeline to support this therapeutic area within the Respiratory Category. The product development resources report directly to the into the role but with accountability for the entire pipeline the role provides leadership and works in partnership with the other critical R&D function Medical, Regulatory, Clinical and Innovation, providing strategic focus and direction to the team and ensuring on-time delivery of all new innovations.

• Leads the execution and delivery of the innovation pipeline to enable the growth of the Allergy therapeutic area within the Respiratory category
• R&D technical leadership of Innovation projects a global cross functional project teams to ensure development, registration and optimal commercialization.
• Business partner with the Global Commercial Category Leader and the NPI Supply Chain leader

Key Responsibilities

Strategy setting
• Develops R&D strategy for the Allergy portfolio and can represent that strategy with internal and external partners participate and partners in the development of the Innovation strategy with commercial and supply
• Is a member of the category R&D leadership team and is responsible for the budgets, strategic resource planning, and other operational tasks with Allergy and R&D
• Partners closely with GBL to provide technical support and insight into product delivery
• Partners closely with Technical Excellence and Quality to ensure that Best Practice is being implemented within all aspects of the allergy

Strategy delivery
• Responsible for the delivery of the allergy Innovation pipeline
• Ensures projects are on schedule and within budget for all pipeline activities
• Ensures available resources are allocated and approved through Portfolio Management Board across Category projects
• Develops and assesses new product concepts including technical viability, risk mitigation plans, contingencies and budget needed to complete development
• Drives issue and resource resolution for the allergy pipeline

Protecting our science
• Updates the Category, Tech Excellence and Supply Chain on new technologies and other relevant internal/external new technologies and product innovations
• Maximizes value - cost efficiencies, contingency/mitigation planning, risk assessments, (may want to remove from above) and any potential IP generation

Communication and senior stakeholder management
• Within project teams – provide coaching, resolve conflicts, provide performance input and feedback to team members.
• Provides status updates and drives resolution of key issues and risks. Escalates any unresolved issues to the relevant function lead on Category team.

Category R&D people management
• Technical Leadership, training, coaching, mentoring, professional development and performance of NPD associates and hiring of key talent to support the needs of the business
• Line management for assigned resources; setting targets, reviewing performance, etc.
