The Sector Tax Professional reports to the VP of Tax with dotted line reporting to the sector CFO’s organization. The position will be located in the Mission Systems (MS) sector office in Linthicum, MD.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Identifying planning opportunities related to federal, state and local, and international taxes (e.g. domestic production activities deduction, research and development, state apportionment, credits and incentives, etc.)
Implementing tax planning strategies in conjunction with the corporate tax planning teams
Identifying opportunities related to state credits and incentives and working with the corporate state tax planning team to secure them
Reviewing multinational contracts
Assisting the Corporate Tax on transaction support related to sector M&A activity
Participating in sector operational meetings to identify tax opportunities and risks inherent in sector operations
Providing tax support directly to the sector CFO
The Sector Tax Professional will need to develop an extensive knowledge of sector operations to perform the job duties.
Desired Skills and Experience
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
Juris Doctor (JD) degree in related field or CPA certification plus 12 years of progressive relevant tax experience in a public accounting or large corporate environment; 6 years of Big 4 Accounting Firm experience
Proven financial, analytical, technical and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to manage large projects, as well as prioritize and supervise/motivate staff.
Expected travel of up to 30%
