Director - IT Audit - News Corp - New York


Job Description

In this position, a candidate will be expected to manage the information technology (IT) auditing function with respect to the Company’s businesses in the United States and United Kingdom. This individual will have responsibility for managing, planning, executing, and reporting on IT audits and reviews at domestic and international business units, shared service and data centers, with a focus on the accuracy and security of data and information and compliance with applicable regulations, internal policies and procedures. This individual will also be responsible for special projects and administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Corporate Audit. The staff supporting the IT Audit Plan will be provided by a co-sourced professional firm (to be established).



Candidates for this position will be expected to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of information technology auditing, strong project management and communication skills, and coaching and professional development skills. Position reports to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Audit.



Roles & Responsibilities



Participate in the Annual Risk Assessment and Audit Plan Development with respect to the information technology environment of all business units;
Participate in the preparation of departmental budgets and forecasts relating to resources and service providers managed;
Manage the scoping and development of audit programs for CAD’s projects, working with business unit and operational management as well as CAD managers on integration to financial and operational audits;
Manage all planning and fieldwork activities for IT audits at U.S. and UK locations to evaluate and make recommendations for improvement with respect to the effectiveness and efficiency of the IT related function and processes, as well as to assess compliance with Company policies and external regulations;
Managing and retaining high quality audit staff and seniors leveraging a co-sourced provider;
Manage special projects (e.g., reviews of system or policy implementations);
Conduct reviews of work performed to ensure compliance with auditing standards, including Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and International Internal Auditing Standards (IIA);
Write and/or review/edit audit reports for the review and approval of the Senior Vice President of Corporate Audit;
Present audit observations and recommendations to management;
Review management action plans and monitor implementation of recommendations proposed by CAD to ensure that issues are adequately addressed and mitigated;
Assist in developing presentations for senior management, News Corp Audit Committee and the Board of Directors with respect to the IT audit scope, coverage, and findings.
Provide technical guidance, as well as coach audit staff and seniors to enhance their technical skill levels;
Establish partnering, yet independent and objective, relationships with auditees;
Coordinate audit activities with the business unit’s IT function and IT Department as necessary, to minimize duplication and leverage combined efforts;
Participate in Departmental training, career development and professional development activities; and
Ensure adherence to department policies and procedures.

Desired Skills and Experience
BS degree in a Business field (accounting, economics, or finance), Information Systems or Computer Science. MBA preferred;
10 years of Information Technology and/or audit experience, including 3-5 years managing or supervising others;
Knowledge of and experience with IT system implementation;
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;
Excellent organizational skills;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to work & interact effectively with employees at all levels in a matrixed organization;
Experience working as part of or with a co-sourced team is a plus;
CPA, CIA and/or CISA certifications preferred; and
Willingness to travel - an interest in global work and the ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse cultural backgrounds.
