Responsibilities
The Director of Education Finance & Auto Finance Product Marketing will be a seasoned and accomplished marketing/product management professional with a broad background in banking and/or financial services and a demonstrated track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams to achieve desired business goals. This position is responsible for optimizing the marketing budget across programs and channels to deliver incremental volume in support of the overall business line targets while providing an outstanding customer experience at all times. These business lines both have aggressive goals and plans; Education Finance, in particular, will be the primary focus of this role to help support its industry leadership and transformative growth that is already underway.
The position reports to the Director of Consumer Finance Product Marketing, and will require an individual who is comfortable operating in a highly matrixed organization to succeed. Experience which will aid success in the role includes a strong strategic planning background; a breadth of marketing experience including product management/marketing; communications; brand/product development; and marketing channel management; and familiarity with key P & L drivers for consumer lending products.
The position will be supported by 1 full-time staff and 2 contractors. It will require establishing a presence on the Leadership teams of the Education Finance and Auto Finance business lines, as well as a high level of coordination across stakeholders in many different functional teams, including Finance, Risk, Operations and Strategy & Analytics.
Primary responsibilities include:
Deliver incremental marketing volume by optimizing marketing budget across channels while achieving targeted returns (i.e. generating NPV+ results)
Ensure outstanding customer experience across all customer touch points
Prioritize programs and resources across marketing channels to support delivery of business goals
Serve as primary liaison between business lines and marketing partners, ensuring that product marketing team is fully expert and versed on all aspects of business line products, pricing, value proposition and competitive differentiators
Coordinate successful execution of key business line programs and initiatives, including:
Education Finance
Undergraduate and graduate student loan programs
Post graduation education refinance loan programs
Strategic partnerships with retail (e.g Apple) and online lead referrers
Corporate/Community related activities within student segment (e.g scholarships, student sponsorships, etc..)
Sales support for critical centers of influence (e.g financial aid offices)
Brand/value proposition support across all student products and services (e.g deposits, mobile, lending, etc..)
Auto Finance
Dealer Sales team support, including advertising; sales collateral and targeted communications
Strategic trade show and sponsorship support (i.e. NADA)
Development of online presence on Citizens One.com for both consumer and dealer segments
Ensure all programs are implemented in full compliance with defined processes and regulatory guidelines

Qualifications

15+ years of experience in marketing, including 10+ years of financial services, with exposure to product marketing; channel management; brand management; product development; communications; public relations & market research
Strong relationship management skills, including demonstrated capability of leading cross-functional teams to deliver business results
Experience in range of marketing channels, particularly digital and direct, as well as retail and advertising
Superior analytic skills, with a proven ability to synthesize a vast array of data to develop meaningful insights and actionable tactics
Executive presence; comfortable interfacing with senior leaders across business lines, stakeholders and key external partners
Familiarity with key drivers of consumer lending product P & L’s and understanding of risk dynamics affecting product performance
Ability to effectively prioritize; juggle on the fly and multi-task are key attributes for success
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Previous experience in Student Lending and/or other consumer lending products
Background of working at or managing marketing agencies would be beneficial to role
Educational, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:
Bachelors degree required; advanced degree in Marketing or Finance preferred
Strong command of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
