Director - Category Management - Samsung Electronics - New Jersey

Job description
The Category Director owns the “Category Roadmap” and new product launch plans, and provides support to the customer teams. This work includes creation of category business plans, new item sell-out presentations, and category definition and analysis. This individual takes a comprehensive approach to driving category growth, including product knowledge, inventory management, shopper insights, pricing, and service. The Category Director reports to the Head of Category Management.

Specific Responsibilities include:
Owns category management current best approaches (CBAs) and drives customer team advancement in this capability
Oversees development of new product and service selling tools that enhance product positioning Ø Develops the “Category Roadmap”
Develops the category drivers and tactical initiatives
Directs customer category review process by leveraging category analysis, shopper insights and relevant analytics
Identifies category growth and profit opportunities for customers

Works in close collaboration with Product Management, Marketing and the Customer Teams
Interprets shopper and consumer research to drive category solutions development with customers
Success Requirements
Quarterly and annual revenue, profit and market share goals
Category and Samsung brand growth for key customers
Customer team proficiency at category management
Sell-in presentations resulting in strong customer support for new products

Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, product management, marketing, or related fieldMaster’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field
Master’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field, preferred
10 years experience in product management, marketing, sales or related field, including 4 years category management experience Preferred Requirements
Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) AND mobile OR electronics industries
