Director, Market & Analysis at UBS Wealth Management


Job Description

The nature of the work within the Market Strategy and Analysis group will be project-based, focusing on the highest priority initiatives facing WMA. Subject to the individual’s level of experience, their responsibilities include:

• Providing top level quantitative and qualitative market analysis, thereby reducing the risk of wasting resources on bad decisions
• Synthesizing and clearly presenting recommendations to facilitate a coherent decision-making process
• Demonstrating superior leadership abilities and delegating responsibilities effectively
• Participating in the firm’s efforts to identify opportunities to differentiate WMA key competitors by monitoring global industries, markets, opportunities and trends; and drawing from key insights from FA and client research
• Communicating, influencing and building consensus around research and insight capabilities to line management
• Leading and managing projects and initiatives, including developing and tracking project team activities and deliverables
• Leading teams that are composed wholly of MII professionals as well as those that include members from different areas of the bank
• Supporting development of the careers of more junior team members, including working with them to identify future growth opportunities within the institution, and ensure they are receiving the project experience to provide them with challenging new experiences and skills
• Drive primary research around Wealth Management Americas (WMA) clients
• Develop WMA client experience
• Influence organizational solutions aligned with client needs
• Manage resources and drive development of team members (2 – 3)

• College degree and preferably a post-graduate education, ideally an MBA;
• Relevant work experience, ideally with at least some of it with a leading management consulting firm, or investment bank;
• New product development and/or market development experience, or strategic marketing experience in the financial services industry. Ideally, this experience will be directly in wealth management, retail banking, or corporate banking
• Strategically oriented thinking with sound business judgment and ability to evaluate and assess the impact of strategic business issues/choices
• The ability to add value in high-level management interactions, with a proven ability to develop, communicate, and create buy-in around business strategy
• Strong “soft” skills – strong leadership and management skills, a team spirit, a flexible personality, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment; and
• Very good written and oral communication skills, and a capability to succeed in a demanding environment at a senior level.
