Job Description
The right candidate will be a Senior Member of the Standards/Research Team and act as a Team Lead for the PHY technologies reseach efforts in Chicago for Wireless R&D Division.
•This position is responsible for researching on PHY technologies for LTE-Advanced and beyond standards and attending the corresponding standards meetings.
•The successful candidate will conduct research on wireless physical layer technologies for the standards, including theoretical analysis, innovative technical solution design and simulation.
•The successful candidate will attend the 3GPP RAN1 standards meetings, drive the research results to improve the standards, guide or suggest for products development and marketing decision to ensure the product solution in alignment of standards.
•Will be lead Research Engineer as well as mentor and work with other members of R&D teams in North America and in Huawei China Headquarters.
•The candidate will have an active role in advanced research projects with external partners.
Skills
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
•PhD in EE, with 15+ years of wireless standards experience or wireless physical layer algorithm research & system level/link level simulation experience in the wireless telecommunications industry or academia.
•Strong technical expertise and experience in wireless physical layer protocol design, simulation and optimization for standards; strong technical expertise in wireless 4G technologies, including OFDM/OFDMA, MIMO, interference control, FFR, Multi-BS MIMO and advanced algorithm design and implementation..
•Hand-on experience with one or more wireless communication systems, GSM, UMTS, LTE, WIMAX; experience with LTE FDD or TDD systems is preferable.
•Good understanding of higher layers (such as lower MAC layer) and experience in jointly designing physical layer and MAC layer.
•Good knowledge of the state-of-the-art technologies for wireless systems in industry and academia.
•Experience in product realization design or receiver algorithm design is preferable.
•Experience being a Team Lead.
•Should thrive in a dynamic, innovative and research oriented environment.
•Travel to Huawei China and all over the world for the standard meeting is required.
