Director Product Consumer Insights Netflix Los Gatos

Job Description
The mission for the Director, Product Consumer Insights is to create a competitive advantage for Netflix by delivering solid insights that help define strategy, facilitate speed and accuracy of decision-making, and ultimately make a positive impact on the business. You will be accountable for defining, leading, analyzing and socializing research initiatives that make a difference to the experience consumers have with our service. You will identify research needs and priorities based on business goals and based on an in-depth understanding of the global market and where it's heading. You and your team will be part of the larger consumer insights group, focusing on areas such as adapting our product and service for launch in new markets; product-based acquisition, onboarding and retention strategies; and on-going customer delight. . You will have a direct and immediate impact on the business.

Specific Responsibilities

Develop accurate insights that inspire new ideas and drive key decisions.
Design, execute, interpret and socialize research that results in material improvements to the consumer experience for members and prospects across the globe.
Proactively ensure key decisions are based on relevant insights and consumer data. Pragmatically this translates into keenly understanding the business and where it is headed, partnering with the relevant groups, conducting ongoing research and translating findings back to the business.
Bring the voice of the consumer into the organization, and stimulate an already strong consumer culture that is anchored in deep consumer understanding.
Create fact-based competitive analysis and anticipate competitive responses and plans.
Provide vision and leadership for your team focused both on member and non-member topics, product-based messaging and merchandising of our original content. Elevate the overall impact of the team.

Qualifications

The Director, Consumer Insights will have at least 12 years of experience as a market research professional at consumer focused companies. You will have hands-on expertise and passion for research and product innovation.

The ideal candidate will thrive on wanting to know why consumers act and feel the way they do, loves sharing this understanding with others, and is known for accurately predicting consumer behavior and reaction. The candidate will have worked in an environment where research is valued and considered core to accomplishing business objectives, whether in a successful client company or highly regarded agency environment.

Mastery of qualitative or quantitative techniques and their applications.
Ability to synthesize across multiple sources and data types - experience with primary and secondary research, as well as an ability to integrate analytics from various sources such as industry analysts, academia, big data, financial analyses, etc.
Proven team leadership - not afraid to hire amazing people who are as good as or better than yourself and adept at building skill sets to yield a team greater than the sum of its parts, while continuing to push team members to reach new heights.
Past experience in a culture that utilizes big data and AB testing is a plus.
