Director Customer Data Macy's New York City

Job Description
The Director of Customer Data ensures that customer, promotional, and associated Data is complete, accurate, and ready to support all aspects of our Customer Strategy and associated Marketing, Credit, Merchandising, and Store Operations activities across the Macy's Inc. organization. Responsible for ensuring that data is controlled, secure, protected, and effectively and appropriately used.

Key Accountabilities:
Owns systems and projects that ensure Customer and Promotion Data is complete, secure, accurate and ready to support all aspects of our Customer Strategy and associated activities across the organization (e.g. Customer Insight, Modeling and Segmentation, Database Marketing, Reporting, Analysis, Merchandising, Credit, etc.)
Partners with appropriate stakeholders to collect, evaluate, prioritize and implement customer data enhancement requests to establish and enhance Macy's 360 degree view of the customer to align with business goals and deadlines.
Creates, maintains, and owns Macy's comprehensive customer data dictionary and data enhancement roadmap. (e.g. Integration of Bridal Registry, Clientell, CoreMetrics, Website Browsing History).
Subject matter expert and a trusted advisor, providing consultation and support for effective use of Customer Data in business decisions and systems related initiatives.
Comfortable with matrix organization structure; ability to achieve results through influencing peers and associates in other workgroups.
Partners with Macy's Privacy Office, Systems and Technology and Vendor Partners to establish and adheres to customer data governance principles, policies, and standard operating procedures;(e.g. Graham Leach Bliley, California SB1, Fair Credit / Affilate Share Restrictions, CANN SPAM, etc).
Acts as leader and liaison between business, MST and 3rd parties (e.g. Acxiom, dunnhumby, NPD, Claritas) to ensure that Macy's customer data is effectively and appropriately used to support Customer Strategy.


Skill Summary
Expertise in retail's use of customer data for targeted marketing and advanced customer analysis across the business
Current and in-depth understanding of customer data privacy and related legislative and industry guidelines
Solid program and project Management experience
Familiar with customer database architecture and data management practices
Business Process and Workflow Mapping, Requirements Gathering, and Functional Design
Strong communication and presentation skills
BBA in Marketing, Statistics or Business Finance or related disciplines
8+ years developing expertise in retail's use of Customer, Sales, Survey, Product and Promotional data to support Customer Insights, Modeling, Campaign Management, and Marketing Effectiveness Reporting.
8+ years and educational background to establish solid understanding of customer data analysis, statistics and financial measurement best practices
8+ years demonstrated ability to perform Business Process and Workflow Mapping, Requirements Gathering, and Functional Design
Formal training and/or 3+ years experience with Retail and Credit Marketing Customer Data Privacy policies, and Federal and State data collection and usage regulations
Training, and technical or business process documentation
Strong communication and decision-guidance and influence skills
