Director - Packaging - POM Wonderful - Los Angeles


Job description
The Packaging Development Director works at the center of design, manufacturing and marketing to manage the product lifecyle including new or revised packaging sku’s, developing/ managing project timelines and coordinating the various marketing-related activities involved in new Packaging Development projects. At POM Wonderful, packaging projects primarily involve the development of printed packaging materials including shrink wrap and decorated bottles, corrugated cartons, and folding cartons. The ideal candidate will have a passion for excellence, plenty of energy and enthusiasm, and experience in graphic design, printing or packaging development.
Responsibilities:
Leading cross-functional Product/ Packaging Lifecycle as an individual contributor/ leader
Project management of all packaging development projects
Final sign-off of all new packaging graphics
Continuous improvement of packaging development processes
Manage artwork development as needed, and ensure that all packages meet the Company’s high standards for excellence
Write detailed briefs or revision notes for packaging artwork development
Develop and maintain timelines for packaging projects
Maintain a sense of urgency to ensure that packages are completed on time and within budget
Communicate project status and details to project stakeholders
Master the company’s online software programs to manage artwork approval, art file archiving and project management
Interface with the various stakeholders and vendors involved in NPD projects
Develop a solid understanding of food regulatory requirements in various countries

Desired Skills and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in packaging development and project management, preferably with a food or consumer products company, and experience working with graphic designers and/or printers.

Capabilities and Competencies:
Working knowledge of packaging structures, materials and equipment
Working knowledge of printing technologies
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements involving food packaging
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills: MS Office, internet
Recognizes opportunities for quality or process improvements

Working closely with the plant, marketing, internal design and packaging vendors to bring new NPD projects to life
Ability to influence others in a cross-functional team environment
