The Director, Digital Video is a managerial job overseeing original video production for ESPN Digital & Print Media. This role includes strategic and tactical planning for videos aligned with breaking news, headline news, commentary, enterprise storytelling, game analysis and sponsorship opportunities. This role is also responsible for coordination of video content with SportsCenter and other ESPN linear TV shows and projects, in conjunction with editors in ESPN Digital & Print, and integration across multiple platforms. This position will also coordinate with the digital distribution team to maximize consumption of video.
This role directs original digital video, and will work closely with Sales & Marketing teams to help identify and develop content with sponsorship potential. This role will also work with Research and Editors to track performance for all video assets, setting daily, monthly and annual goals and monitoring performance; ensure that all content meets established tone, theme, accuracy, style and consistency requirements.
Responsibilities
This position requires a passion for and in-depth knowledge of digital video and related devices, analytics, with extensive background in the content creation and management process.
Basic Qualifications
At least 10 years of editorial and management experience
Strong leadership and communication skills, and experience managing or supervising a cross-functional team
Ability to follow and shape video segments at various stages of development using various means of presentation
Advanced news judgment; understands assigned sport from a journalistic point of view
Appreciation of popular culture, and understanding of the tastes of ESPN's audiences
Required Education
Bachelor's degree or higher preferred in journalism, communications or a related field
