Program Manager Senior - IT - Capital Group - Irvine


Job description

Under limited direction, designs, implements, and maintains strategic, multi-year, multidisciplinary
IT programs with a significant budget and with multiple projects in support of corporate strategy.

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:
Managing the Business
 Implements and maintains effective governance for IT programs/projects.
o Designs, establishes and ensures compliance with the organization's project management
philosophy and methodologies.
o Stays current with project management trends. Provides enterprise-wide project
methodology leadership.
o Supports all of the project offices within IT, including reporting, processes and methods.
 Partners with business and IT leaders to develop and prioritize strategic programs, ensures
alignment with business needs.
o Develops and implements long-range project plans, ensuring alignment of business needs
and technology.
 Effectively integrates across all functions to support the successful execution of the Service
Delivery Model.
o Proactively collaborates with and assists other teams across ITG ensuring mutual
accountability for accomplishment of ITG goals and successful implementation of projects
and initiatives.
o Ensures ongoing communication to teams on involvement and progress of deliverables.
 Represents all of IT to their business partners.
o Supports all of the strategic initiatives of ITG by describing the value they provide to
Capital and their business partners and ensures the delivery of those services to maximize
value for Capital.
o Supports shared goals and educates business partners and management team on why
they are important.
o Ensures ongoing communication to business partners on involvement with and progress of
implementation of initiatives.
Managing Projects
 Provides program leadership for strategic IT initiatives. Coordinates related programs and projects,
including business cases, project plans, status reporting and management visibility and escalation.
o Responsible for tracking overall program metrics.
o Responsible for ensuring new products or services from the projects meet appropriate
levels of quality, are on time and within budget.

o Communicates regularly with all stakeholders and manages both the dependencies and
the interfaces between projects.
o Manages any risks to the program's successful outcome.
Managing People
 Manages performance of managers in the group and assures effective performance of each team
member.
 Interviews and assesses candidates for associate or manager positions. Makes hiring decisions for
associate positions.
 Recommends salary increases, transfers, and promotions for staff.
 Approves salary increases, transfers and promotions.
 Responsible for associate and management development within a function.
 Consults with managers to appropriately apply Human Resources guidelines and procedures.
 Provides guidance to managers on more complex performance issues.
Managing the Environment
 Sets the tone in business groups and ensures Capital's philosophy is reflected throughout the
organization through constant modeling and support of our core beliefs.
 Builds and supports strong teams.
 Facilitates meetings with external parties including vendors and clients.
 Communicates with other internal managers and senior managers primarily on operational,
business processes, risks and controls and overall business planning.

Hiring Criteria

A minimum of 10 years of experience in Project / Program Management using leading methodologies and processes
• Experience with establishing an Infrastructure PMO
• Understand budgetary control and resource allocation procedures
• Experience managing multiple parties including Senior Project Managers and third party vendors on high profile and technologically innovative enterprise solutions
• Ability to create a sense of community amongst the disparate members of the Program teams
• Collaborative style and the ability to manage large teams across multiple locations
• Experience with MS Project and HP Project Management Methodology or similar tool
• Experience with financial services and Big 4 consulting a plus
