The Director, Business & Legal Affairs will be drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a variety of travel related agreements including, but not limited to, tour operations, hotels/lodges, transportation, traveler terms and conditions, strategic partnerships, and destination management company/supplier contracts. Providing practical legal advice and support on business matters in a fast-paced environment. Maintaining a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment and an innovative approach to legal issues in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives.
Responsibilities

Negotiating, drafting and providing advice on contracts and other forms related to tour operations, hotels/lodges, transportation, traveler terms and conditions, strategic partnerships, and destination management company/supplier contracts.
Analyzing contracts in response to business questions, as well as to provide necessary contractual/research information to supervisor(to assist in business development, litigation risk assessment, etc.).
Providing supervisor with necessary information (often concerning legal rights and responsibilities) in order to make informed business decisions.
Liaise with internal and external counsel on issues affecting the travel business such as data privacy, litigation, government relations and ADA.
Provide support on other matters as assigned by senior members of Business & Legal Affairs.
Qualifications

JD degree and active member of a bar. Requires minimum of 5+ years prior transactional experience at a firm or as in-house counsel, including experience drafting and negotiating travel and traveler related documents for both US and international travel.
Familiarity with related US data privacy laws and principals.
Strong interpersonal skills (multi-cultural/ written/verbal/negotiation).
Needs to be able to handle advanced level reasoning tasks and make common sense decisions and risk assessments.
Familiarity with Word, Adobe and Excel.
Must be able to respond to and interact with senior level business executives in a professional, articulate, personable and useful manner. Must be very organized and detail-oriented. Must be comfortable multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with international data security laws such as GDPR strongly preferred.
