Senior Director Technical Accounting Nike Portland

Lead the team responsible for determining, establishing, maintaining, and owning the Company’s global technical accounting policies and compliance with US GAAP (for internal and external financial statement reporting) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for statutory reporting, including advising the Company and concluding on complex accounting and policy matters.
Key accountabilities include:
Leading our global Technical Accounting & Policy team at NIKE World Headquarters;
Lead technical accounting reviewer of all externally issued financial statements (quarterly earnings releases, 10Q’s, and 10K’s);
Providing governance over critical accounting policies that feed in to the Company’s SEC-filed financial statements ;
Governance and authoritative voice on accounting standards and policies, and their adoption and application;
Oversee the ongoing development and maintenance of the database of all technical accounting policies, memos, and consultations;
The Company’s primary representative for tracking and influencing accounting standards setting by regulators, including various peer company working groups, and central point of contact for external benchmarking with peer companies;
Primary contact for communication on all technical accounting/policy matters with the Company’s external auditors;
Providing communication on all technical accounting/policy matters to the Company’s Audit Committee of the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis;
Overseeing the technical accounting interpretations and judgments globally;
Influence and drive compliance with applicable accounting standards and policies throughout the organization at WHQ and globally;
Develop the framework for and lead the Company’s interpretation, application, and adoption of new accounting standards;
Lead the team of consultation resources for technical accounting issues and complex business transactions throughout the Company;
Researching, resolving and documenting technical accounting issues;
Partnering with the External Reporting team to ensure appropriate external disclosure considerations;
Authoring the Company’s official comment letters to the regulators for proposed changes in accounting standards that may impact the Company;
Ownership of NIKE’s accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with emerging US GAAP and ensure policies remain relevant with evolving business activities;
Partnering with the Controlling Value Stream teams (including Treasury Accounting Center of Excellence) to oversee/ensure consistent application of all accounting policies across NIKE’s operating entities;
Developing and delivering training and education materials globally to various stakeholders throughout the business;
Assist in preparing materials for NIKE’s disclosure and audit committees.


Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;
CPA required;
12+ years' combined experience in technical accounting, including Big 4 accounting firms and/or Controllership within large multinational, publicly-held companies;
Experience working in a Big 4 accounting firm’s Regional or National office is strongly desired;
5+ years' proven people management experience;
Exposure to ERP accounting and finance systems such as SAP or Oracle preferred;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, issues, risks and opportunities with senior leadership team;
Proven ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience, including meeting facilitation and presentations;
Proven ability to develop high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions and layers, preferably inclusive of navigating a large corporation;
Proven experience with continuous improvement and/or LEAN-related concepts and change management;
Excellent understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as innovation, inspiration, employee development, coaching and engagement; and
Ability to pass a 7 year background check
