Immuno-oncology is an exciting and dynamic area and a key priority for the Pfizer Oncology organization. This role has the ability to help set the future vision for Pfizer’s IO portfolio and to help make a significant difference in patient’s lives.
The Director, IO Early Portfolio Strategy is responsible for working with the development teams to drive decision-making for the early-stage IO pipeline and leading commercial planning for these assets. This role will be responsible for a range of early assets and technology platforms.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate must be a self-starter who is able to multitask in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and support the team through key strategic decisions for Pfizer’s IO portfolio as well as be able to understand the operational complexities required to execute the early stage portfolio.
He/ she must be mature, self-driven, have exceptional learning agility and a high degree of comfort with ambiguity.
In addition, the successful candidate must excel at:
Strategic Thinking – ability to grasp issues quickly, understand the big picture and translate it into specific insights for Pfizer’s IO portfolio
Relationship Development & Management - build a robust interactive relationship with cross functional stakeholders across commercial and R&D organization Organizational Management - ability to independently facilitate complex processes/ programs with senior leaders across WWCD and WRD and marshal an organization in an aligned direction to specific timelines
Influence – Ability to influence without direct authority
Key responsibilities include:
Partnering with R&D, Medical, BD and other key functions to facilitate execution of asset plans and supporting asset progression through governance stage-gates
Leading commercial / strategic assessments and driving commercial planning to support development of asset / technology platform business cases including:
Evaluating and maintaining a comprehensive view of the dynamic IO competitive landscape
Leading comprehensive analysis of the market trends, pricing/access landscape; treatment trends across regions; evolving standard of care and competitive developments
Providing commercial input to the development strategies to optimally commercialize oncology assets
Work with Business Development to assess potential candidates for in-licensing / partnership
Develop tumor / LOT strategy for the early portfolio as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Pharmaceutical, Biotech and /or Commercial pharmaceutical Industry background with demonstrated leadership experience.
Demonstrated ability to work cross-function/BU in structured and efficient manner
MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred
This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, in particular the ability to work across the commercial and development in a positive and constructive manner at all levels of the organization.
Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders and exercise judgment, attention to detail, interest in developing new and improving existing processes, where appropriate. Ability to proactively and independently execute on action items is critical. Specifically:
Demonstrated leadership of cross functional matrix teams.
Ability to gain alignment.
Communication skills.
Experience managing a team in a matrix environment without direct management control in multi-disciplinary positions.
Experience progressing assets through stage-gates (POC, DP3 etc) and presenting asset business cases to a senior management audience
Experience with commercial planning and decision-making for early stage assets
Strategic Thinking.
Scientific Acumen.
Financial Acumen.
